Fordsell had never brought all of these processes under a single roof
before, but this project seemed to fit our newly expanded capabilities and
our closer relationships with our customers. It was definitely aligned
with Fordsell's direction and plans to grow through joint problem solving
with our customers.
Fordsell worked with our customer's staff to design and build the flow-
and pressure-testing station to their specifications. While this was being
done, we built prototypes and used our own resources for designing and
testing the internal spring. Several other problems were also addressed,
including high volume assembly, color coding the plastic poppet and
ensuring the proper functioning.
At the end of the day, successful products rolled out of the plant, our
customer was very happy and we learned some new tricks about in-process
testing and cooperative problem solving. So much for doing things
"the way we've always done them."
